Star Hawthorn forward Jack Gunston is in line to return from a corked calf after missing last week's three-point win over Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium.

Fellow goalkicker Mabior Chol remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Will Day is four to five weeks away from a return to football.

Draftee Matt LeRay is a new addition to the injury list after suffering a concussion during Box Hill's 73-point VFL win over Port Melbourne.

High Performance Manager Peter Burge provided updates on all four players below.

Jack Gunston (Calf cork) - Test

"Jack's back to fully training this week. Last week, he just had a small corky out of the game, and we made the decision towards the end of the week that we'd make sure that we got that right, so that he was absolutely good to go this week."

Mabior Chol (Hamstring) - 4-5 weeks

"He's progressed steadily. Today, he ran around the 60 per cent mark at training. We're 10 days post-injury at the moment, so we're tracking around for a five-to-six week return. Sometimes these take a little longer to get moving, but once they get moving, we are able to start progressing. We'll just keep making those progressions over the next week or so. There's clinical testing in the gym, and those sorts of things need to step up to another level, and getting back to full strength before we can actually start to run fast. But we're doing lots of stride-throughs at the moment and cross-training. We're working him every day, so when he gets back to training, he'll be in peak condition."

Will Day (Shoulder) - 4-5 weeks

"He's progressing really well. He's progressed into some limited contact work with the main group this week. Our plan is still the same at this stage. It's a Round 11 to Round 12 return—four to five weeks from now. He will come through the VFL in his first game at least, so we'll make those assessments as we get closer to returning to play. But he's certainly going to have a lot of work under his belt. He's going to have around eight weeks of training under his belt and around six to seven with the main group. So, yeah, it looks really good for his return to play."

Matt LeRay (Concussion) - TBC

"He's recovered well. He's back out there doing some run-throughs today and exercising. He's got to sit through the 12-day standard protocol. Being a young player, and with any player, we'll certainly have their health and well-being first and foremost."
