Emerson Woods will play for Carlton next season after she was selected with Pick 38 in the 2018 AFLW Draft.

Woods played eight games for the Eastern Ranges in the TAC Cup Girls competition as well as seven for the Hawthorn VFLW side.

It was a decorated year for the 18-year-old, being selected in the TAC Cup Girls Team of the Year for the second consecutive year before becoming a VFLW premiership player with the Hawks.

Woods blew recruiters away at the AFLW Draft Combine in early October, when she recorded top-five placings in the standing vertical jump (5th), the agility test (3rd), the YoYo test (2nd), and the 2km time trial (3rd) as well as setting a new combine record in the 20-metre sprint, finishing in just 3.129 seconds.

Her athleticism is a key strength of her game but her footy smarts and ball use also complement her running power.

She will play alongside fellow Hawk Jayde Van Dyk who was also picked up by the Blues with selection number 21.
