Box Hill will be eyeing off a spot back on the winners’ list when it takes on Coburg on Saturday.

An inaccurate Hawks side conceded its first loss of the season last week at the hands of Port Melbourne, while Coburg registered its maiden win of 2019.

VFL-listed pair Luke Meadows and Brayden Kilpatrick have been stand-outs for the reigning premiers to date, while Hawthorn-listed forward Jackson Ross sits one goal behind the pace in the league’s goal kicking stakes.

Recruit Darren Minchington is also in line to play his first game for Box Hill after he was named on the half-forward flank.

Undoubtedly Box Hill’s focus will be on aggression at the contest against Coburg, after convincingly being out hunted in the midfield battle last week.

Hawks coach Max Bailey expects a strong response from his side this week.

“Hopefully they can improve how they respond to adverse situations during games and even in the lead up to a game,” Bailey said.

“There was really good learning’s around winning it hard in contests, where Port Melbourne put a lot of pressure on us and were very good at winning the critical contest.

“Our guys will be looking to bounce back from that. Coburg will provide that so we will be getting plenty of chances to do it.”

Box Hill will host Coburg at Box Hill City Oval this Saturday at 1pm.
