Teenage Hawk Cam Nairn will make his AFL debut this Thursday night when the Hawks host Kuwarna at UTAS Stadium in Launceston.

The highly-talented half forward has shown plenty of promise at VFL level this year, averaging 15.7 disposals, 4.9 marks and 2.7 inside 50s per game across his seven appearances for Box Hill.

Nairn’s AFL call-up comes off the back of several strong performances, including just last week, where he recorded 20 disposals, five marks, five intercept possessions, four score involvements and three clearances.

The 18-year-old Central District product was taken with Pick 20 in last year’s National Draft.

While primarily playing as a forward, Nairn has also showcased his potential on the wing, highlighting his versatility and bright future as a Hawk.

Nairn is set to become Hawthorn’s fourth AFL debutant this season, joining Jack Dalton, Will McCabe and Bodie Ryan in earning their chance at the elite level this year.

Hawthorn Executive General Manager of Football Rob McCartney congratulated Nairn on his debut selection.

“We’re excited to see Cam Nairn make his debut on Thursday night - our first pick in the 2025 AFL National Draft.

“Cam’s been a player who’s shown some versatility at Box Hill, playing both as a forward and a wingman.

“We have a number of players who have come through the Central Districts Football Club, and that will be an exciting day for them to watch Cam debut, as it will be for all brown and gold fans in Launceston on Thursday night.”
