Hawthorn and St Kilda will go head-to-head for the 27th annual Blue Ribbon Cup on Thursday night at Marvel Stadium.

The special match was established in 1999 in memory of Victoria Police officers Sergeant Gary Silk and Senior Constable Rodney Miller, who were killed in the line of duty at Moorabbin.

The annual tradition between the two sides honours the courage and sacrifice of all Victorian police officers, particularly those who have fallen in the line of duty.

It also raises awareness of the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation's important work in the community, perpetuating the memory of Victoria Police members who have died in the line of duty.

At the conclusion of the match, players from the winning team will receive commemorative Blue Ribbon medals.

Additionally, the best player from each team will be awarded the Silk-Miller Memorial Medal.
