Mid-season draftee Max Beattie is set to realise his childhood dream this Saturday night, when he runs onto the MCG in the famous brown and gold to make his AFL debut.

The 22-year-old Woodville-West Torrens product has made an immediate impression since arriving at the club as the 12th selection in the Mid-Season Draft less than three months ago.
 
After overcoming an ankle injury in his first VFL outing for the Hawks, the crafty half-forward has been a consistent contributor for Box Hill over the past month, including a 23-possession, seven-mark and two-goal performance in his last game.
 
Prior to joining Hawthorn, Beattie was among the SANFL’s most dominant players. His form was highlighted by one of the games of the season earlier this year, in which he collected 30 disposals, took eight marks and booted five goals.
 
Beattie’s AFL debut will make him the ninth first-gamer for the Hawks this season, giving the club its highest number of debutants in a single year since 2005 (10).
