Lucy Wales was Hawthorn’s leading vote-getter in the Round 1 of the AFLW Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year.

Wales polled six votes for her dominant performance in the ruck, after the 23-year-old finished with a game-high 29 hitouts, 18 disposals and a team-high eight tackles.

Joining her on the board for the brown and gold was forward duo, Áine McDonagh and Jacqueline Dupuy.

McDonagh collected one vote after booting three goals from 16 disposals, and six marks.

While Dupuy also earned the single vote, after finishing with 16 disposals, nine marks and one goal.
