Three Hawks are set to be available for selection ahead of Round 3, having progressed through their respective rehab programs.
Jasmine Fleming, who was a late out in Round 2 (hamstring), is on track to take to field against Collingwood on Sunday, while 2025 draftees Hannah Looney and Maya Dear are closing in on full fitness.
Mackenzie Eardley will need to prove her fitness as she attempt to return from an achilles injury, while Ellie Symonds continues to make steps in her return to play.
High Performance Manager Aaron Kellett gave a detailed update on each of the players.
Jasmine Fleming (Hamstring) – Available
“As I spoke to last week, Jas has had some low-grade hamstring awareness in the lead-up to the last game. She'd progressed really well clinically, really well with some of her strength markers. There was just one or two things that gave us a little bit of hesitation around pushing her out on the weekend, so we made the ultimate conservative call to not let her play. She's continued to progress, she's trained fully today. You know, pending a full clean training week, she's going to be available this weekend.”
Hannah Looney (Foot) – Available
“Really well. Her training progressions have gone really well. You know, back to full training, she's done a number of sessions now. She'll train fully on Thursday again, and we look forward to making Hannah available this weekend.”
Maya Dear (Leg) – Available
“Another one, great training progressions, back in the main group for a couple of weeks now. We'll probably look to stage her return with some managed minutes. But she's progressed to the stage where we can't wait to see her back out on the footy field.”
Mackenzie Eardley (Achilles) – Test
“Another great training week under her belt. She's ticked off a couple of her return-to-play markers that we felt were really important. We'll look to main train on Thursday. We've got some decisions around her loading and how well she's prepared for a full game of AFLW footy before we finalize that decision. But that'll be a test and a decision we make later in the week.”
Elli Symonds (Foot) – 3 weeks
“Another one who's back in training with the main group, building her load steadily. It's obviously been a long lay-off for Ellie with her navicular repair. But again, she's ticking off some of those return-to-play criteria really, really successfully. We'll map out what a return to play looks like for her, which may involve some managed minutes through a scrimmage. But at this stage, we think she's about three weeks away from AFLW availability.”
