Finn Maginness will depart Hawthorn for the Western Bulldogs after the club reached a deal on day five of the 2026 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.

In exchange for the 25-year-old, the Hawks have received a future third-round selection (2027) tied to Port Adelaide.

After being drafted to Hawthorn as a father-son selection in 2019, Maginness played 64 games over his seven seasons.

As a third-generation Hawk, Maginness followed in the footsteps of his father Scott and grandfather Norm, who both played 50+ games for the club.

Hawthorn National Recruiting and List Manager Mark McKenzie said:

"Finn has made a great contribution to our club both on and off the field, and we wish him all the best with the next stage of his career.

"Since the beginning of trade period, we've had open and honest conversations with Finn, and we worked closely with his management to ensure the best possible outcome for everyone.

"As a father-son Hawk, Finn will always remain an important part of the Hawthorn fabric, and we thank him for his contribution to the club over the past seven seasons.

"The additional draft capital we receive as part of this trade will give us more flexibility across this trade period."
