Feuding pair Billy Gowers and Jarman Impey have both received fines following Sunday's contest between Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs.

Gowers received a free kick after he was struck in the chest by Impey, but dished out a similar retaliation moments later as the pair clashed in a heated encounter at the MCG.

Impey was hit with a $3000 fine for two fixed financial striking penalties stemming from the fight, while Gowers was slapped with a $1500 fine after being penalised for one strike.

It came amid a quiet round two for Match Review Officer Michael Christian.

After his controversial decision to hand Collingwood forward Mason Cox and Richmond defender Dylan Grimes one-match bans from Thursday night's clash at the MCG, the remainder of Christian's weekend saw only financial penalties dished out.

James Worpel was fined $1000 for making careless contact with an umpire during Sunday's match, while a further five players were fined during St Kilda's victory over Essendon.

Jack Steele was fined $2000 for bumping Jake Stringer while his back was turned, while Dean Kent was fined $3000 for striking Aaron Francis in a marking contest.

Essendon's Patrick Ambrose and Conor McKenna, as well as St Kilda's Josh Bruce, were also fined $1000 each for engaging in a melee during the second quarter of Sunday's match.

Cox will challenge his rough conduct ban at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night, while Grimes accepted his charge and will miss next week's encounter with the Giants.
