It’s been over two years since Hawthorn supporters last saw Grant Birchall grace an AFL field.

Injuries have plagued Birchall’s past 24 months, with the four-time premiership defender dealing with knee and calf issues throughout this time.

But Birchall may be in line to return to the senior side this week, after three appearances with Box Hill.

Forward Chad Wingard is also a chance of facing Fremantle on Saturday, having not featured since Round 11.

Wingard said he has focussed on resetting his body across the past month.

"I've obviously had four or five weeks’ worth of a training block with weights and running, so I'm feeling pretty comfortable and confident with how it's going," Wingard said on Tuesday.

Among the other players set to be brought up in selection conversations are Jonathon Ceglar, Harry Jones, James Cousins and Harry Morrison.

Ceglar was best afield for Box Hill last week, gathering 23 disposals, 10 marks, 46 hit-outs and a goal.

While the young midfield trio of Jones, Cousins and Morrison all had at least 20 disposals whilst also combining for 22 tackles.
