Hawthorn has launched its 2018 finals campaign, drawing on the club’s historical Latin motto, ‘Spectemur Agendo’.

A phrase that has been engrained in Hawthorn history since 1965, the motto translates to ‘Let us be known by our actions’.

The motto was originally suggested at a club committee meeting by Garry Young, a 1961 premiership player.

It was incorporated into the club’s logo, where it stayed until 1982.

2018 has been a year full of highs and lows for the Hawks; we've blooded exciting youngsters, and said goodbye to club champions. We've been dealt some difficult defeats, and we've found a way to regain composure and climb back up the ladder.

But September is a whole new ball game, and we will not get lost in the past.

'Spectemur Agendo' personifies Hawthorn; we want to be known by our actions – the one percenters and the second efforts.

The club has also launched a Finals hub that will provide a one-stop shop for all finals information including ticketing, merchandise, events and more.
