It's no coincidence that the return of Game of Thrones falls on the same weekend as another epic battle between the Hawks and the Cats.

Here it is; our Round 17 clash summarised the best way possible - with Game of Thrones GIFs.

1.30pm – At our stomping ground again, preparing from a blockbuster battle against our old nemesis – the Cats.

It’s Hodgey’s 300^th, and we just know the boys are going to rise to the occasion.

1.45pm – First bounce.

Q1 00:42 – Tom Mitchell’s stat sheet after 42 seconds – three disposals, one goal.

He’s sending a strong message to the competition.

Q1 20:05 – Rough and Dangerfield collide, and the reigning Brownlow Medallist comes off second best.

He’s helped off the ground, sending shockwaves through the football world.

QT - We trail the Cats by one point at the first break. 

Time for the Hawks to swoop.

Q2 01:00 -  Dangerfield has pulled a Jon Snow and is miraculously back from the dead.

Q2 11:42 – Punky, Mitch and Issie go bang, bang, bang, and suddenly the Hawks have a handy lead half way through the second.

Q2 15:21 – But the problem lies at the other end. Chris Scott has had the genius idea to plant his wounded soldier down at full forward.  

Danger goals.

Q2 25:00 – 50m penalties like they’re going out of style, it seems like the umps are looking for their moment in the sun.

HT – We’re holding onto the lead by five points, but Danger is posing a headache with 2.2 already.

Time to go to war.

Q3 01:45 -  Aaaaaaaand Danger has his third.

3QT – Not our best quarter, as the Cats escape to an 11-point lead at the last break, and that Cat in the No.35 guernsey has a handy bag of five.

Q4 15:45 – It’s goal for goal at the ‘G. The crowd are on the edge of their seats, and you just get the feeling something big is about to happen.

Q4 27:23 – THERE IT IS.

Our 300 gamer has kicked a goal to put the Hawks back within 4 points with 20 seconds on the clock.

You can always count on The General.

Q4 28:25 -  Frantic scenes, as the Hawks get a quick clearance and Gunners marks 60 out from goal. He spots Issie inside the arch and hits him bang on the chest.

A split second decision, and Issie rocks back for a snap on goal.

....a point.

The hearts of 70,000 Hawthorn fans break.

We haven't felt this flat since the aftermath of the red wedding.

FT – Geelong win it by a mere three points.  

The siren sounds and their team song fills the ground.

Though there’s no sweet taste of victory, the Hawks boys have done us proud.

Sitting in 13th on the ladder, they've matched it with three of the top for sides in the last month.
