Box Hill has finalised its 40-women-squad ahead of its Round 1 clash with Geelong this Saturday.

The inaugural Box Hill VFLW team will be led by Captain Melissa Kuys (Collingwood AFLW player), and Vice-Captain Tamara Luke.

Kuys says the team has been working hard over an extended pre-season, and believes the effort will be evident on the field.

“Paddy [VFLW Coach Patrick Hill] is structuring the training exactly the way an AFL team would prepare for the season,” says the newly-appointed captain.

“The girls have been doing time trials, hard running behind the scenes, and a lot of skills as well.

“They’ve been learning the game plan since November, and I can see when I go to training that that the knowledge and hard work is paying off, so hopefully we continue to grow as a team when the season starts.”
