Hawthorn has made four changes to its Round 6 team, with the brown and gold faithful set to get their first taste of Hawthorn’s 2019 draft class.

Not one but two first-year Hawks are preparing to make their debuts, with Will Day (Pick 13) and Josh Morris (Pick 57) both set to get their first taste of AFL football against the Magpies on Friday night.

GM - Football Graham Wright says it’ll be an exciting day for the club, having not blooded two debutants in a single game since Round 1 2014.

“We’re really pleased for both of these guys. Both Will and Josh have slotted seamlessly into our program and have worked extremely hard for this opportunity,” Wright said.

“It’s fantastic to have so many players knocking on the door for selection, particular given the unique circumstances surrounding this season.”

It’s been a big day in the Hawthorn interstate hub, with both Will Day and Josh Morris receive the exciting news that they will make their debuts against Collingwood tomorrow night.

Day and Morris will be joined in the side by returning duo Jonathon Patton and Harry Morrison.

As the youngsters come in, a veteran goes out, with Shaun Burgoyne rested for the Round 6 clash.

“With the uncertainty surrounding the fixture to come, and coming off a five-day break, we thought this week is a good opportunity to give Shaun a rest,” Wright said.

“He’s so valuable for us, but obviously the main priority is to ensure he can get through as many games as possible in the coming months.

“He’s such a competitor and probably won’t enjoy watching from the sidelines, but he's a player we need to be careful with and he’ll be back refreshed and firing for Round 7.”

Mitch Lewis (hamstring), Jack Scrimshaw (ankle) and Harrison Jones (omitted) will also sit out Friday night’s clash.

The game will mark the first time the Hawks have played a Victorian side in Sydney since 1979, when they defeated North by 51 points.
