Thelma & Phillip Stanbury are to be thanked for donating this football.  Back in the 1980’s when the Social Club was at its zenith, the fans would adjourn to the Social Club after the game either to celebrate or commiserate the days result.  The Social Club Committee would raffle either the football, a pair of socks or shorts worn by one of the players from the game.  Thelma recalled Dipper had organized the players to sign the ball and he helped to sell the raffle tickets.  To Thelma’s lasting delight they won the football from Matthews’ last home & away game which saw the Hawks defeating North Melbourne, 23. 21. 159. to the Kangaroos 14. 11. 95.
