Alastair Clarkson says the club's next phase of its 2020 fixture brings its challenges but also a source of excitement for players and coaches.

The club is set to play four games in 15 days between Rounds 13 to 16 as it enters its new base in Adelaide.

But Clarkson said the quick turnarounds between games were something the Hawks felt optimistic about.

"There's an element of excitement for us, we've been playing our season normally, effectively weekend to weekend," Clarkson said. 

"So, our compressed schedule kicks in over the next four to five weeks for our club.

"We'll be playing a lot of games, but players and coaches would much prefer to be playing games than training!"

Clarkson said the club would look to deeper into its squad in order to navigate through the condensed period of matches, with younger players set for more opportunities. 

"So, it will reduce our training loads and increase our game loads.

"We obviously need to be wary of what that does to our players and the risk of injury from week to week.

"But we're looking forward to seeing how we go over this next period."
