Hawthorn Assistant Coach Scott Burns is set to depart the club after three seasons, having accepted a senior assistant coaching role with the Adelaide Crows.

Burns joined the Hawthorn coaching panel in late 2017, serving as the forward line for two seasons before taking over as stoppages coach ahead of the Hawks’ 2020 campaign.

Chief of Football Graham Wright thanked Burns for his contribution to the brown and gold.

“Scott has played an important role in our football department for over three years,” Wright said.

“During that time, our players, staff and other coaches have all significantly benefitted from Scott’s knowledge, experience and willingness to help others develop.

“While we are sad to see him go, he has received a fantastic opportunity with the Crows.

“He grew up in Adelaide, so this role will also allow him to return to his home state and be closer to family.

“We wish Scott, his wife Jessica, and children Tom, Allie and Eddy all the very best in their next chapter.”
