The Box Hill Hawks have announced Damian Mascitti as the captain of the club in 2021.

Set to lead the side into the 2020 season before its cancellation, the Hawks have again entrusted Mascitti to lead the club into the upcoming campaign.

Arriving at Box Hill City Oval in 2019 after seven seasons at Port Melbourne, the 28-year-old Mascitti immediately made a strong impression on those around the club.

His first year saw him named vice-captain of the club under Andrew Moore, with Mascitti playing 18 games and featuring amongst the best players on six occasions.

Growing younger: Hawks falling down the age ladder

General Manager of VFL Football Daniel Napoli said the club was pleased to award Mascitti with the captaincy honour.

“Damian has been a wonderful person to have around the club over the past few years,” Napoli said.

“He is a natural leader around the group and he thrives on the opportunity to make our squad better.

“He has an enormous amount of state league experience and we’re really excited to see him lead us into this new-look competition in 2021.”
