Hawthorn has extended Ben McEvoy’s stay in the brown and gold, with the ruckman signing on until the end of the 2022 season.

Fresh off his appointment as captain of the club late last month, he figures as a significant influence in building the club’s foundations for future success.

Head of Football Rob McCartney said the club was delighted to have secured McEvoy’s services.

“Ben is a man of wonderful character who is constantly striving to make the club a better place,” McCartney said.

“He has recently been voted in as captain, which reflects the level of respect the playing group, and the entire club, has for him.

“As we develop our list for future success, Ben will play an important role over the next few years as both as a player and leader.”

Since joining the club in 2014, McEvoy has played 131 games and was a member of both the 2014 and 2015 premiership sides.
