Box Hill Coach Sam Mitchell has taken a look at the 13 AFL-listed Hawks who ran out in the VFL practice match against Richmond on the weekend.

Mitchell also makes mention of a few VFL-listed players who caught his eye.

Footy Flashbacks: Dunstall's double dozen

Mitch Lewis

"He was again the dominant player on the field. His attack on anything in the air was first-rate and his follow-up on the ground was again a feature."

Conor Nash

"Nash was really good again, he is in a rich vein of form. He is playing good, solid footy. His contested work has improved a lot over the last few weeks. We've been really impressed with his work recently."

Lachlan Bramble

"He finished the game outstandingly well after taking a little while to get going. His last quarter was very, very good. He had a couple of the best highlights of the game with his run and carry."

James Cousins

"Cousins was strong. He was our highest possession-getter and he made simpler decisions with the ball in-hand this week. He had some very good tough and hard moments which we loved."

Michael Hartley

"Harts was strong for us once again. He got a bit of a knock later in the game that slowed him down a bit but he is in some good form."

Damon Greaves

"Greavesy had some good, physical moments as the game wore on. His defend-first mindset wasn't quite where it needed to be on the weekend though, we'd like to see his balance slightly better than that. That area continues to be a work in progress for him."

Finn Maginness

"Finn did a tagging role on Richmond midfielder Riley Collier-Dawkins. He was outstanding in the role. His development as a player to progress his football is to try and shut a player down, then work off him to gain some footy himself. So, we will continue to progress his roles in this area over the coming weeks. But we were really pleased with his diligence and discipline in executing his role."

Harry Pepper

"Their small forwards caused us some trouble. Pepp had two strong performances going into this week, but he wasn't able to replicate that form unfortunately on the weekend."

Ned Reeves

"Reeves was the dominant ruckman on the day. But unfortunately we didn't get stoppage dominance on the back of his work. So, we need to do a bit of work on that. He had some good moments on the ground though and, again, he was a solid contributor."

Denver Grainger-Barras

"He was really strong right up until halfway through the third quarter when he got hurt. He was really aggressive in the air and he made some good decisions with the footy. We were pleased with him before he got hurt."

Emerson Jeka

"Jek struggled to get involved in the contest. He managed to make a contribution by hitting the scoreboard with a couple of goals. But he was beaten by his opponent on the day."

Connor Downie

"He played on the wing on what was a very contested day. He had some good moments, particularly early, with his clean hands. But he probably didn't have the overall game impact he would have hoped for. But it was good to have him around the Box Hill boys for the first time."

Jack Saunders

"Mighty Mouse played as a high half-forward. He had a couple of very strong crumbing moments and some nice inside 50 connections. He is continuing to learn how to play footy against men. His running patterns to play in our system are a work in progress, but he is developing and playing better each week."

And some of the best Box Hill-listed guys?

Vincent Adduci played as a small forward. He caused the opposition some trouble with his speed and workrate between the arcs.

Jordan Cunico came back for his first game of the pre-season after a hamstring injury, he played in defence and did some really nice things.

Trent Mynott was outstanding between the arcs, particularly in the second and third quarters.

Ed Phillips played on the wing and on the inside. His workrate was a stand-out but could have probably made more of his opportunities in space.
