Following the side's loss to St Kilda, James Worpel has received the nod from fans as Hawthorn’s Round 7 MVP, brought to you by AIA.

Worpel was a rare shining light for the Hawks on what was an otherwise grim night for the club as it copped a 69-point loss at the hands of the Saints.

The midfielder collected 33 disposals and laid seven tackles in what was the best performance of his 2021 campaign to date.

His 17 contested possessions and 11 clearances were both match-highs as he led the way for the Hawks in the engine room.

What made his effort more impressive was that it came in the absence of teammate Jaeger O'Meara, with Worpel clearly identifying a need to step up for the side.

Despite the loss, the 2019 Peter Crimmins Medallist could hold his head high on the back of his own performance.
