Hawthorn has welcomed the news that its Round 15 clash against GWS will now be played at the MCG in front of a crowd.

Originally fixtured to be played at GIANTS Stadium, the AFL has announced the game will be moved to the MCG in response to the Covid-19 outbreak in NSW.

In line with the Victorian government announcement on Wednesday, a crowd of up to 50 per cent capacity, but capped at a maximum 25,000, will be in place for this Sunday’s match.

The match will still be a Giants' home game.

It is positive news for the Hawks, who haven't played in front of a crowd in Melbourne in over a month.

With news of the relocation and crowd capacity details having only just come to light, the club is working towards finalising membership and ticketing details ahead of the Round 15 match.
