It has been quite the journey so far for Hawthorn's fresh recruit Lachy Bramble.

The youngster, who arrived at the club and made his AFL debut this season, has become a staple of the Hawks line up since his first taste of the big stage in Round 14.

After opting to go to Box Hill for the 2021 pre-season, Bramble impressed Hawthorn recruiters and was selected via the pre-season supplementary selection period.

With a month to go, which Hawks are topping the stats?

He made his debut against Essendon, just three months after joining Hawthorn's list.

The 23-year-old said he has become more comfortable within his role as the season has progressed.

"I've put some good numbers together recently, so hopefully it just keeps continuing to build," he said.

"I've been thrown half-back recently, which has been a bit of a change – I haven't played too much defence.

"But it has been a good learning curve, and I'm looking to probably push up the wing next year when we've got some other players back.”

Bramble has averaged 17.3 disposals across seven games, and has shown particular improvement in recent matches.

His career-best performance came in Round 17 against Fremantle where he recorded 27 disposals including 18 kicks and nine handballs.

The talented midfielder was one of the standout performers in the side’s performance against Adelaide in Round 19, finishing with 25 disposals.

Bramble first impressed Hawthorn recruiters in trial matches and was selected in the pre-season supplemental selection period, signing a one-year rookie contract.

Box Hill Hawks Senior Assistant Coach Andy Collins said the young Hawk possess a great mix of speed and endurance.

"A lot of athletes have endurance with a little bit of change of pace, but he's got some genuine speed, great mobility and great agility," Collins said.

"Lachy is a person of values, and a great person to have at the Hawthorn Football Club."
