The next stage in Hawthorn’s journey to the AFLW is upon us, with the club announcing a list of 50 players who are set to make up its W Academy.

The inaugural Hawks W Academy will begin on November 13, with the program to include six sessions of skill development, player mentoring and education.

The sessions will be led by Hawthorn’s VFLW coaches, including the newly-appointed VFLW Senior Coach Cherie O’Neill, as well as an assortment of past AFLW players.

Three-time premiership Hawk Jack Gunston has also been involved in the structuring of the Hawks W Academy, highlighting the close connection between the club’s AFL and AFLW programs.

GM – Operations & Major Projects Josh Vanderloo said the club’s objective in forming the Academy is to provide promising players with another developmental touchpoint ahead of the 2022 season.

“This is a really exciting steppingstone for the club as we continue to progress towards our move into the AFLW landscape next year,” Vanderloo said.

“As well as giving these women the opportunity to develop and hone their skills, it will also give our recruiting team a closer look at these prospective talents.

“We are looking to build a strong, competitive list ahead of our entry into the AFLW competition in Season 7 and this is a really important step in ensuring that.”

The 50 players registered are aged from 16 to 23 years old. See each of them listed below.
