Hawthorn is delighted to have secured the signatures of one of the AFLW’s most experienced players in Kaitlyn Ashmore.

The Hawks completed a trade for Ashmore on Tuesday, welcoming the 30-year-old as well as Picks 26 and 27 of the Victorian draft whilst giving Picks 23 and 41 to Melbourne and Pick 32 to Richmond as part of a three-way trade.

As a priority signing in 2016, Ashmore has flourished at AFLW level with 49 games under her belt across six seasons with Brisbane and North Melbourne.

She is also no stranger to a winning culture, having become the first AFLW player to win 25 games.

In Season Six, Ashmore averaged 11.8 disposals, four marks and 3.4 inside 50s.

Hawthorn AFLW List Manager Mitchell Cashion said Ashmore’s acquisition was an exciting step forward for the club.

“Kaitlyn is a proven outside ball-winner and one of the most experienced players in the AFLW,” Cashion said.

“We’ll look to her for some leadership and expertise in the brown and gold.”

Ashmore joins a growing contingent of experienced AFLW players in Hawthorn colours, joining Tegan Cunningham, Tilly Lucas-Rodd, Jess Duffin, Akec Makur Chuot, Janet Baird, Louise Stephenson, Sarah Perkins, Tamara Luke, Aileen Gilroy and Ainslie Kemp on the Hawks AFLW list.
