Hawthorn midfielder Will Day has been awarded the Round 13 MVP following his commanding performance in the Hawks' engine room on Saturday.

The 23-year-old impressed with a team-high 26 disposals and 10 tackles to guide the Hawks to a six-point win over GWS at University of Tasmania Stadium.

Day also took six marks and registered 12 contested possessions, six score involvements and four clearances.

Speaking post-game, the star midfielder was pleased to put in a good performance following his interrupted start to the season.

"It's good to get going now," Day said.

"I'm really happy with the 10 tackles, it's a part of my game that I've been working on.

"I really pride myself on the contest and the pressure, so I love to hear that I had 10."

Since his return from injury in Round 7, the star midfielder is building towards his very best, averaging 21 disposals, 5.4 tackles and 4.1 clearances.

Day will look to continue his strong form in this Saturday's Round 14 clash with Richmond at the MCG.
