Hawthorn's Fundraising Day has started incredibly strong, thanks to the generosity of the Hawks faithful and of course, the matching donors who are quadrupling each donation for the brown and gold's future home until 8pm Wednesday 28 May.

A host of past and current Hawthorn stars have dominated the airwaves to explain the importance of ensuring the Kennedy Community Centre features every piece needed to help the mighty Hawks win their 14th AFL premiership and their inaugural AFLW flag.

Gary Ayres - Hawks Insiders

"We just hit a record membership number of over 83,000 members... If you think about our glory days, we had 12 or 13,000 was probably our top membership number back in the day. It's great to think at the minute there's a lot of stability. We'd really encourage anyone that's associated with the Hawthorn Football Club, not a member, has a friend who's a member, has a family, relatives, whatever it may be. We're really encouraging as many people to ring in within that 24 hours. We've got a target in mind and we're clearly hoping that we can get that achieved because the facility itself is quite amazing. It'll be transformational for the whole Hawthorn family to be honest."

Rodney Eade - Talking Hawks

"I've been out there quite a few times taking tours of people who have kindly donated. It's about 80 per cent done. It is amazing. I wouldn't do it justice by trying to explain the scale of it. It's very well designed.. it's just really well thought out. It is exciting. It can be used as a retention tool and a recruiting tool. It'll be one of the best, if not the best, (facility) in the competition. It's been very well thought through and if I was a player, you wouldn't want to leave the facility. They'll sleep there overnight I reckon."

Harry Morrison - Triple M Rush Hour

"We went out there as a group, probably a couple of months ago, so it’s probably even more done now, but it’s looking so impressive. It’s enormous, it’s going to be an incredible facility. It’s the perfect time in our 100th year to start a new journey at a new facility."

Jai Newcombe - SEN Breakfast (7.40am, Wednesday)

"We had a look at it as player about a month or six weeks ago. All the windows and everything was in, all the plaster was starting to go in so you could get a really good feel for the size of the place, it's absolutely massive. It was a really good day. Our warm-up area is probably six times the size of what we have now and the recovery side of things is definitely going to help us all. It's going to be awesome for everyone involved, not only us as players, but the fans to come and have a look, the staff and admin upstairs and everyone else involved. It's really exciting."

Emily Bates - RSN Breakfast (7.50am, Wednesday)

“Obviously, it’s a really exciting day for the club, 24 hours to raise $2 million. It’s sort of this period now where it’s nearly ready, so you’re itching at the bit to get in there, we’re all pumped and hopefully we can reach this fundraising goal to get those final finishing pieces we need. There are so many incredible things that the club’s working on in terms of technology, so we can be ahead of the game and a front runner in this space. It’s important so we can remain a successful club for the years to come and obviously, chase a premiership.”
