Kristy Stratton rejoined the main training group this week after an extended period in rehab for her hamstring, while Aileen Gilroy is making strides in her return to play.

Kaitlyn Ashmore and Najwa Allen both suffered hamstring injuries in Hawthorn’s Round 3 clash with the Bulldogs and will miss this weekend’s clash, with their estimated return timelines still being determined.

High Performance Manager Aaron Kellett provided further insight into those four players as well as the recovery of Jasmine Fleming and how Ainslie Kemp’s ACL surgery went.

Kristy Stratton (Hamstring) – Test

“Kristy’s back in full training now, so pending completion of her training this week, she’ll be available for selection this weekend.”

Aileen Gilroy (Hamstring) – 1-2 weeks

“Aileen’s turned the corner on her hamstring. It was slow to respond early. We’re now working on some chronic load stuff for her, we’ve got a plan in place for that and think she’s going to be one to two weeks away at this stage to get those numbers up and to make sure she’s fully prepared for AFLW footy, but one to two weeks at this point.”

Jasmine Fleming (Knee) – 2-3 weeks

“Jas is back running over ground, started some change of direction drill this week. Is tracking ahead of probably what her initial schedule was. At this point, she’s going to be available somewhere between Round 5 and Round 6 at this point.”

Kaitlyn Ashmore (Hamstring) – TBC

“Kashy pulled up a little bit sore after our game against the Bulldogs. We looked at that clinically and actually scanned that this morning, and we’ve only just got the results back. It does look like she’s got some stuff we’re going to have to deal with at this point. We’ve got some work to do around planning out a return to play for her, so at this stage it’s a bit of a TBC, but she’ll miss this weekend.”

Najwa Allen (Hamstring) – TBC

“Same sort of story, she had an incident out on the ground, had to come off the ground and couldn’t complete the game. We’ve scanned that, and she does have an injury there. We’re again doing some work on what the return to play looks like. We’ll have a timeline next week that we can hopefully report on, but at this stage, she’s a TBC but will miss this weekend.”

Ainslie Kemp (Knee) – Season

“(Surgery) went very successfully. We have repaired the graft and the tear in the meniscus, so that’s gone really, really well. Ainslie’s actually at the club today, so it’s great to see her. We’ll obviously put the plan in place for what her rehab looks like, and we’ll keep everyone updated on her progress.”
