The Box Hill Hawks VFL and VFLW fixtures have been released, with a host of exciting match ups on the cards for 2026.

As announced last week the Hawks will host the Smithy’s VFL season opener at Hawthorn’s new Dingley headquarters, the Kennedy Community Centre, on Friday March 20 against the Sydney Swans.

The first home game at Box Hill City Oval will take place six weeks later, in Round 6, with the Hawks to host the Pies on Saturday May 2.

Round 1 of the VFLW season will commence on Saturday May 16, with Box Hill to host Collingwood at as part of a double header, with the VFL Hawks hosting Richmond.

Headlining the first half of the season are preliminary final rematches in both VFL and VFLW, as the VFL Hawks prepare to resume hostilities with the eventual premiers in Footscray at Box Hill City Oval in Round 11, with VFLW following suit the next week against North Melbourne in Round 5.

The first 13 rounds of VFL have been confirmed, with a floating fixture unveiled from 14-21. The dates and times of these matches will be confirmed at a later date. Similarly, in VFLW, the first six rounds are set, with details for rounds 7-16 yet to be determined.

Box Hill General Manager of Football, Annelie Smith welcomed the 2026 fixture.

“After strong campaigns across both programs last year, we’re looking forward to the 2026 season getting underway,” Smith said.

“It’s an honour for Box Hill to be hosting the VFL season opener for the second year in a row and being the first official game at Hawthorn’s new home, the Kennedy Community Centre.

“Our first game at Box Hill City Oval this season will be a historic occasion for the club, as we celebrate the 500th game as the Box Hill Hawks in the VFL.

“There’s still three months until we get to see our VFLW team in action, in what will be the first of many double headers at home.

“As always it will be great to see our members and fans cheering on the brown and gold this season.”

Before the season officially kicks off, Box Hill’s VFL side will play three practice matches in line with the commencement of the AFL season.

The first on Friday February 27 against Footscray at Whitten Oval, ahead of the AFL AAMI Community Series match between Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs.
