Six Box Hill Hawks have been named in the Smithy’s VFLW State Team squad.

Matilda Van Berkel, Paige Price, Annabelle Embelton, Stasia Stevenson, well as new recruits Caitlin Thorne and Kayley Kavanagh have all been named in the 40-player squad.

The VFLW State Team will don the ‘Big V’ when they take on the SANFL State Team at Glenelg’s Stratarama Oval on Saturday April 11 at 12pm as part of a representation double-header, with the men’s VFL v SANFL clash to follow from 2.30pm.

Van Berkel is the reigning Box Hill VFLW Club Champion, a member of the 2025 VFLW Team of the Year and a key cog in the Hawks backline.

Price dominated in her first year for the Hawks last season, finishing Runner Up Club Champion in 2025 and named in the 2025 VFLW Team of the Year.

Embelton has been a reliable defender in the brown and gold for the past two seasons, earning herself the Hawks’ VFLW Best in Finals Award in 2025.

Stevenson is an emerging talent, having been awarded the Box Hill VFLW Development Award in 2025 and named in the 2025 VFLW Team of the Year squad.

Thorne returns to the Mustangs following two seasons on Geelong’s AFLW list, while Kavanagh joined Box Hill ahead of the 2026 season after two years on West Coast’s AFLW list.

Box Hill has the second most players featured with six, second to North Melbourne Werribee who have eight.

The final team will be announced during the week of the match.
