The Box Hill Hawks will have seven players line up in this weekend’s representative matches as Victoria take on South Australia as part of Gather Round.

The VFLW side has five Hawks set to don the Big V for the first time in Matilda Van Berkel, Paige Price, Stasia Stevenson, Caitlin Thorne and Kayley Kavanagh.

While in the VFL team, Box Hill’s Kye Declase and Brodie Mclaughlin will suit up for the Vics.

For Declase, it will be his third consecutive representative appearance, while McLaughlin was also part of last year’s Victorian side, which recorded a historic 11-point triumph - its first victory over the SANFL since 2002.

The Mustangs are also represented in off-field roles across both teams. For the VFLW team, Steph Binder (BH VFLW Specialist Coach) is an assistant coach, Chantelle Campbell (BH VFLW Analyst) is the team’s Football Analyst, with Alex Mackenzie (BH VFLW Specialist Coach) as the team runner. While Matt Manfre (BH VFL Football Operations Coordinator) is the sole staff representative for the VFL side, as the Property Manager.

Box Hill Hawks General Manager of Football Annelie Smith acknowledged those selected in the Smithy’s State Teams.

“We’re thrilled for our Box Hill cohort who will represent Victoria in the respective VFL and VFLW State Teams this weekend,” Smith said.

“It’s an honour for these seven players to play for their state and a credit to their individual efforts.

“We’re also delighted to have several staff selected from both our men’s and women’s programs representing Victoria.

“For Box Hill to have so many representatives is a testament to our wider football program, and we look forward to seeing them all play their role on Saturday against South Australia.”

The double header takes place on Saturday 11 April at Glenelg’s Stratarama Oval, with the women’s game from 12pm and the men’s at 2.30pm.

The 2026 State Games will be available to stream via AFL.com.au and the AFL Live Official App.
