Hawthorn defender Karl Amon and midfielder Cam Mackenzie will both undergo tests to prove their fitness for Saturday's Gather Round clash with the Western Bulldogs.
Both players missed the Hawks' Easter Monday win over Geelong due to knee injuries.
High Performance Manager Peter Burge provided an update on the duo, as well as James Blanck, Noah Mraz and Will Day in this week's injury update.
Karl Amon (Knee) - Test
"Karl has cartilage irritation in his knee from the Sydney game. It's taken longer to recover, and we just needed more time. He did fully train last Friday, but we just made the decision to take a little bit more time, given he wasn't feeling back to 100 per cent. He will be assessed at training this week."
Cam Mackenzie (Knee) - Test
“Cam’s got what's called a Baker's cyst in the back of his knee, which is not a major issue and doesn’t usually inhibit training significantly, however, sometimes fluid can leak to other structures, and this started to impact his function late last week. He has slowly improved again over the weekend, and we expect him to be able to start training this week. If he is back to full function at Thursday’s main training, then he’ll be available."
James Blanck (Groin) - 1 week
"James is playing in a VFL practice match this weekend due to the VFL bye, so he's going to play some minutes as part of his overall preparation. It effectively acts as a training session for him, being match play specific that will set him up to play in the VFL the following week."
Will Day (Shoulder) - 6-7 weeks
"Will's getting in some fantastic kilometres in at training. He's doing everything but full contact with the main group. He's currently doing modified contact work with the rehab group. We'll be progressing to some contact in the main group in a fortnight or so. He's been completing quite a bit of non-contact training with the main group and conditioning on alternate days, so now it's about his shoulder strength and the progressions to higher levels of specific contact before he resumes with the main group to full training"
Noah Mraz (Ankle) - TBC
"Noah just has a badly sprained ankle, which we'll assess further tomorrow when we see the players again. We will know more towards the end of the week."
