This year marks a historic anniversary, with Hawthorn celebrating 25 years in its second home, Tasmania.

A quarter of a centry ago, Hawthorn made York Park (then Aurora Stadium, now UTAS Stadium) a fortress built together with the local community, building brown and gold into the landscape of Tasmania.

The Club's connection with the State was a natural one, following in the footsteps of Hawthorn and AFL Legend, and proud Tasmanian, Peter Hudson. The prolific full forward remains one of the greatest ever players to come from Tasmania.

Hawthorn’s modern story has been built by the local heroes who call the state home, the local support is what proved that Hawthorn belonged, and in return Hawthorn continues to be proud of the work done to support every corner of the state.

The Launceston and wider Tasmanian brown and gold family are an integral part of the Hawthorn story, exemplifying what it means to be a Hawk for the past 25 years – proving that if you embrace Hawthorn, Hawthorn will embrace you.

Hawthorn will celebrate its 25th anniversary in Tasmania with a milestone match at UTAS Stadium in Round 17 against Melbourne. Fixture timings are still to be confirmed by the AFL.

Hawthorn has partnered with Waverley Woolen Mills to create a limited edition 25-year scarf, inspired by Tasmania, and proudly made in Tasmania. The range is a tribute to the state that has become Hawthorn’s second home and the fans who have been there since day one.
