Hawthorn Coach Alastair Clarkson said his side’s loss to Richmond is an accurate reflection of where the club is at.
The Hawks were brave on Sunday, but were ultimately overrun by the Tigers who prevailed by 36 points.
Clarkson believes the team, which now sits 11th on the ladder and a game out of the eight, has some work to do before it is able to compete with such finals-bound outfits.
“I think today probably showed the gap between us and Richmond at the present time,” the four-time premiership coach said.
“The final margin was probably a reflection of the quality ball-use of one side as opposed to the other.
“We didn’t get reward or bang for buck for the opportunities that we had.”
Hawthorn will now turn its attention to taking on Port Adelaide at University of Tasmania Stadium next week as it continues to maintain contact with the top eight.
