Two Hawks are listed as tests ahead of this weekend’s Elimination Final against the Gold Coast Suns.

Mackenzie Eardley and Grace Baba have both taken strides in their return to play progress.

High Performance Manager Aaron Kellett detailed what the remainder of the week looks like for the duo, as well as updates on how Matilda Van Berkel, Emily Bates and Emily Everist are tracking in their rehab journeys.

Mackenzie Eardley (Ankle) – Test

“Yeah, I think I spoke last week, Mack had strained the medial ligaments, so the inside of her ankle, in the match against GWS. She finished the game, but she was really sore, and as the week progressed last week, was probably not progressing functionally, to the point where we were happy to play her. She's been able to get out on the track today, so we'll aim to train fully on Thursday as part of a test for availability for the weekend, but so far that's been a really, really nice step today.”

Grace Baba (Ankle) – 1-3 weeks

“Yeah, it was great. Grace has been progressing really, really well, particularly the last month or so. She’s a bit underdone from a skill perspective, but has been able to get out and train fully today, her first session back with the main group. Similarly, we'll look to train fully on Thursday with as a view to test her availability for the weekend. There's a high probability that from a loading perspective, she'd need to be sort of managed minutes, but certainly from a from an injury recovery perspective she's back in full training, which is awesome.”

Matilda Van Berkel (Foot) – Season

“Tilly, another one who's progressed back into the main group training-wise, has progressed really, really well, did her first session back with the group today. Was great, to have her back in the group, brought a lot of energy into our program again. So whilst she's inactive for the season, it's an amazing step for her to set us— set herself up for a really awesome off-season.”

Emily Bates (Knee) – Season

“Emily is progressing well in in what is a long return to play post-ACL repair. She's got a her range of motion back, she's working through her strength progressions. The next milestone for her is probably that return to running stage. She's still a little bit off that, but yeah, so far so good.”

Emily Everist (Knee) – Season

“I'd say similarly, she's also got pretty much all of her return to play markers from a strength and a range of motion perspective sorted for this next milestone, which is a return to run. There's a possibility that might come online later this week if not next week, but yeah, tracking beautifully for sure.”
