O'Brien signs

O'Brien Re-Signs Tim O'Brien re-signs for the Hawks.

Hawthorn swingman Tim O’Brien has agreed to a two-year contract extension that will see him remain a Hawk until at least the end of 2021.

Arriving at the club with Pick 28 in the 2012 national draft, O’Brien has played 60 senior games across his seven seasons in the brown and gold, kicking 43 goals across this time.

The 25-year-old has put together his best season to date this year, averaging 13 disposals and 4.4 marks across his 14 appearances at AFL level.

GM – Football Graham Wright said the re-signing was reward for effort after O’Brien’s promising 2019 season.

“We’re excited that Tim has committed to the club for a further two years,” Wright said.

“We think he has started to look more and more comfortable at senior level this season and we’ve been impressed by his ability to play as both a key defender and a key forward throughout the year.

“He is a popular man around the club with a strong work ethic and desire to continually learn so we’re looking forward to seeing how he develops beyond this year.”

O’Brien has won two VFL premierships with Box Hill in his time at the club in 2013 and in 2018.
