Read: A true rollercoaster

James Sicily's maiden selection in this year's All Australian squad symbolised the heights the defender reached in 2019.

Featuring in all 22 games for the Hawks this year, Sicily led the league in intercept possessions this year, while also recording the sixth-most rebound 50s and 12th-most metres gained.

Sicily also finished the season with the most coaches’ votes of any of his Hawthorn teammates.

Finishing with 49 votes to his name, the defender polled consistently throughout the year, earning votes in nine of 22 appearances including two 10-vote outings.

Still just 24 years of age, Sicily's potential should be a source of real excitement for the brown and gold faithful.
