Hawthorn Football Club has traded ruckman Marc Pittonet and pick 61 to Carlton Football Club, in exchange for picks 54 and 63.

Taken by the Hawks at pick 50 in the 2014 National Draft, Pittonet has performed well at the VFL level but struggled to break into the senior side, managing just seven AFL games in his time at the Hawks.

GM-Football Graham Wright said the Hawks were disappointed to see Pittonet depart and thanked him for his service.

“We had hoped Marc would accept our offer to remain a Hawk, but acknowledge he feels he could get more senior level opportunities elsewhere,” said Wright.

“Marc has been a solid contributor during his time at Hawthorn.

“We’re disappointed to see him go, but we thank Marc for his five years as a Hawk and wish him all the best for the future.”
