Hawthorn defender Emily Everist will miss the 2026 AFLW season after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

The 21-year-old suffered the injury following a training incident on Thursday.

Everist’s scans revealed a rupture of the ACL and damage to the meniscus, which will require surgery.

The playing group was informed of the news on Thursday afternoon.

Hawthorn General Manager of AFLW Keegan Brooksby said the Club will support Everist during her recovery.

“A season-ending injury is unfortunate for Emily, the entire playing group and our broader football club,” Brooksby said.

“Our thoughts are with Emily, and we will fully support her during the initial phases of recovery and in her rehab journey ahead.”

“Emily is a much loved and respected member of the playing group and is a resilient character. We have no doubt she will demonstrate the professionalism and dedication required during her recovery to return for the 2027 season."
