Irish Hawks recruit Niamh Martin has been named to represent her country in the NAB AFLW Australia v Ireland match.

Martin joins fellow Hawthorn forward Áine McDonagh in representing their home country in the clash against Australia on Saturday 1 August at North Sydney Oval.

While Martin is yet to officially don the brown and gold, she is no stranger to Aussie rules, having played 16 games over two seasons with North Melbourne.

The 24-year-old has a background in Gaelic football, where she had an impressive stint with Tipperary in 2022 and the beginning of 2023, before making the move to Australia to try her hand at AFLW.

She made her AFLW debut with the Kangaroos in Round 7 of the 2023 season, playing every game the remainder of that season, including featuring in the Grand Final against the Brisbane Lions.

The 2026 NAB AFLW Australia v Ireland match will start at 4.15pm AEST on Saturday 1 August. It will be broadcast exclusively around the country on Fox Footy, Kayo Sports, Kayo Freebies and Binge.
