The historic alignment between Hawthorn Football Club and Box Hill Hawks is set to extend into a record 30th season after a new deal was reached to continue the partnership for a further three years.
The multi-year extension will see the partnership continue until at least the end of the 2029 season, adding to what is already the longest-running VFL/AFL alignment in the competition’s history.
Earlier this year, Box Hill celebrated its 500th match since the highly successful alliance began in 2000, which has netted three VFL premierships and four AFL flags.

Highlighting the sustained success of the partnership is the VFL Hawks’ 20 finals appearances from a possible 24 seasons, excluding COVID-affected years.
Box Hill President Carli Barnes said:
"The alignment between Box Hill and Hawthorn is something we're incredibly proud of; the success speaks for itself. With our programs working hand-in-hand, it provides the premier pathway for both VFL and VFLW players and staff.
"With the major redevelopment of Box Hill City Oval promising an exciting new era, we're looking forward to continuing this partnership into the future."
Hawthorn CEO Ash Klein said:
"Extending our long, enduring, and highly successful alignment with Box Hill was a no-brainer. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together since 2000.
"The strength of our club, both on and off the field, continues to be largely supported by the alliance between Hawthorn and Box Hill. We remain excited about the future of this alliance as we approach three decades together."
