Hawthorn will blood its seventh AFL debutant for the season this Saturday night, with teenage Hawk Ollie Greeves selected to play his first game.
The 191cm midfielder joined the club at the end of last year via the Rookie Draft following a prolific junior campaign, which included Vic Metro MVP and All Australian honours.
In his first year at the senior level, Greeves has been among the most consistent contributors for Box Hill, averaging 21.1 disposals, 4.5 clearances and 5.1 marks across 13 VFL games to date.
His strong patch of recent form includes a pair of 30+ disposals games in the past month and a half, highlighted by a 33-possession performance, with nine clearances, six marks and a goal.
Executive General Manager of Football Rob McCartney said:
“We are thrilled for Ollie to get this opportunity, he has been knocking on the door with his strong VFL form for several weeks.
“Being able to pull on the brown and gold guernsey for the very first time will be a special moment for Ollie and his family, and we are confident he can play his role on Saturday night.
“More broadly, seeing our seventh AFL debutant for the season take to the field will provide plenty of excitement for the Hawthorn faithful."
