Hawthorn midfielder Conor Nash is set to undergo surgery to address an ongoing nerve issue in his neck, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Nash had been working towards a return this year and was showing continued signs of improvement, however the club has made this decision with input from external specialists.

While surgery will end Nash’s 2026 campaign, it will ensure he is fully fit for the start of pre-season later this year.

Hawthorn Head Doctor Liam West said:

 “While we saw continued improvement in Conor’s strength and ability to train, we have made the decision that a return to play this season was not going to be possible.

 “After consulting with several specialists, both surgeons and doctors from across different sporting codes, we determined the best course of action was for Conor to undergo surgery to relieve the inflammation around the nerve in his neck.

 “Making this decision now was in the best interests for Conor and will help him to be fully fit for the start of pre-season later this year.

 “We’re confident Conor will make a full recovery and look forward to having him back on the field next year.”
