Hawthorn will host the Brisbane Lions at the Kennedy Community Centre this Sunday afternoon.

The Round 9 clash marks the first weekend of Pride Round, with both teams set to don specially designed guernseys for the occasion.

The Hawks sit ninth on the ladder with four wins and four losses, while the Lions have just two wins from eight games this season to sit in 14th position.

Sunday’s game marks milestone matches for a pair of inaugural Hawks, with Kaitlyn Ashmore to line up for her 100th game, while Lucy Wales is set to play game 50th.

Hawthorn (33) defeated Brisbane Lions (29) in Round 1, 2025.

Hawthorn took a huge round one scalp, staving off a frenzied finish from Brisbane to defeat the two-time champions by four points at Brighton Homes Arena.

Eliza West was prolific around the ball, gathering 25 disposals and laying six tackles to help the visitors gain ascendency around the contest.

Emily Bates (20 disposals) was influential, while Áine McDonagh was a handful all day (two goals, 11 disposals) and Lucy Wales had 16 hitouts and six tackles.

What’s On

Back at home for Round 9!

The Hawks will run onto the field from 12.55pm, with the game set to kick off at 1.05pm. Quarter time sees the Nature Valley kicking competition and at three-quarter time the KFC bucket challenge before boundary club and kick-to-kick post-match.

Around the ground you’ll have the option of bungee trampolines, face painting partner activations, roaming mascots and more. Plus plenty of food trucks behind the supporters hill to choose from.

The HawksNest store will be open in the Harris High Performance Building as well as a pop up shop behind the goals.

KCC Sensory Space

Facilitated by the Inclusion Project, made possible by Variety – The Children’s Charity VIC.

The Inclusion Project will be located in the Community Pavilion. The Inclusion Project Sensory Space provides fans with sensory processing differences a quiet and low sensory place to retreat and recharge away from the stress and stimulation of a live event. It includes dimmed lighting, comfort items and a love screening of the event, with an occupational therapist in site to provide personalised support. This support is available from gate opening until the end of the match and can be accessed before, after and during the match.

Inclusion Project Officers will also be at main entrances and roaming around the ground to assist during the match if required.

There are a variety of different options available for anyone who is travelling to our Hawks games in Dingley Village to make it easy to enjoy the game.

Public Transport

🟤 Take the Pakenham or Cranbourne line train to Springvale Station.

🟡 Catch the Route 811 bus (Dandenong - Brighton via Springvale) from the station.

🟤 Disembark along Tootal Road / McClure Road, which drops you near the entrance to the Kennedy Community Centre.

Alternative Bus Routes: Route 811 also runs through Mentone, Springvale, and Dandenong, connecting with Mentone Station (Frankston Line) and Dandenong Station.
