Hawthorn Football Club is mourning the passing of 1961 premiership player Ron Nalder.

Recruited from Maryborough, Nalder became the 495th player to debut for Hawthorn when he played his first game in Round 1, 1959.

Handed the famous #3 guernsey ahead of his third season, Nalder developed into a fine centreman, whilst also spending time across half-forward and half-back.

He would go on to represent the brown and gold 121 times across his eight-year career, including being part of Hawthorn's inaugural VFL premiership in 1961.

Hawthorn would like to extend its sincere sympathy to Ron's family and friends during this difficult time and acknowledge his contribution to the club.
