Warnie from The Traders, AFL.com.au’s NAB AFL Fantasy experts, will be taking a look at the Hawks each week exclusive to hawthornfc.com.au.

Last week

Although the result didn’t go the Hawks way on Saturday, there were some good Fantasy numbers that fans can take consolation from.

Isaac Smith’s incredible form that has seen him average 133 in his last three matches, continued with 123 and a further $26K price rise.

Appearing in only two per cent of teams makes him a very unique, in-form option. Sadly, I traded him out of my Elite team a fortnight ago and my mate is absolutely giving it to me for it!

We will consider last week’s score of 42 a blip on the radar for Taylor Duryea. The defender added 111 to his round three and four scores of 109 and 122 to take his price to $75K above where it started.

Top 5 scorers v GWS GIANTS

123 – Isaac Smith (MID, $591,000)
111 – Taylor Duryea (DEF, $424,000)
109 – Sam Mitchell (MID, $529,000)
108 – Grant Birchall (DEF, $465,000)
101 – Shaun Burgoyne (DEF/MID, $428,000)

On the radar

If you’re looking for a defender for your Fantasy squad, consider a Hawk.

Josh Gibson is averaging 92.2 points, Grant Birchall 89.4 and Matt Suckling 86.5. The trio are priced well below the big premiums and are consistently putting up solid scores.

If you are keen to back in a fallen premium, Shaun Burgoyne is down $63K from his starting price and at $428,000 his breakeven of 73 suggests he is as cheap as he’ll be for the season.

When key defender Brian Lake returns, the numbers should increase for the boys mentioned above as they will hopefully have the opportunity to run up the ground.

What's coming up

With the Demons coming up in round seven, Jordan Lewis who top scored last time with 144 spends one more week on the sidelines through suspension.

Jarryd Roughead booted five goals for 110 points back in round 20 last season and Grant Birchall took nine marks to help him to 106 points.
