Hawthorn Football Club would like to help raise awareness of the ongoing need of the survivors of the recent Nepal earthquake. Some eight million people have been affected, equating to more than a quarter of the population.

Due to the lack of clean water those who have escaped the 25 April quake now face a secondary threat of waterborne diseases.

To combat this threat Oxfam has been assisting by building pit toilets, providing clean water and handing out hygiene kits to families in need. They are also distributing tarpaulins to give people much needed shelter from the elements and are aiming to get aid to at least 350,000 people in Kathmandu Valley and in harder to reach remote villages.

Having seen first-hand the support that Oxfam provides to people in need, when the team visited South Africa in 2013, we wanted to help raise awareness of the good work they do.
