Lou Wotton has been named the Round 8 MVP for her performance against Footscray on Saturday.

The veteran ruck had 34 hit-outs and laid 13 tackles in what was a testing game in challenging conditions.

In the absence of captain Tamara Luke who was a late withdrawal, Wotton also stood in as the team’s captain on the day.

As well as leading her team, Wotton shouldered the majority of the ruck-load against Bulldogs players Nicole McMahon and Celine Moody.

Wotton competed for all four quarters and her second efforts were outstanding.

“Lou was huge for us in the ruck this week,” said VFLW coach Paddy Hill.

“Against two quality opponents, Lou had 34 hit outs and an amazing 13 tackles.”
