Chad Wingard’s 2019 season was a tale of two stories.

The 26-year-old went through a series of injury niggles that interfered with the first half of his season, delaying his debut in the brown and gold until Round 3 and causing him to miss eight games throughout the year in total.

Hawks fans were looking to Wingard to fill the void left by Cyril Rioli and in the second half of the season, he did just that.

In the last seven games of 2019, he was able to produce some of his best football, averaging 23 disposals and five tackles.

His most impressive performance was against West Coast in Round 23, where he had 28 disposals and seven clearances, earning him a spot in the AFL Team of the Week.
